You’ll find other options on the web, but be forewarned, not all microscopes are suitable for the McMaster Method FEC test.

This professional grade microscope will out-perform other low-quality models, and most importantly, you won’t have to struggle with cracked slides, poor lighting, inadequate field scope, and bad angles.
About Your Microscope
Before you get started, be sure to review the Microscope Users Guide and How-To Guide that came with your kit to learn about its components and operation.
Your microscope should last a lifetime if cared for properly – here’s how:
1. After each use, carefully wipe down any solution that gets on the microscope.
2. Don’t touch the glass part of the objective lenses. If they get dirty, clean them with special lens cloth.
3. Lower the stage to place the McMaster slide.
4. Be sure to turn off the microscope when not in use.
5. Use the dust cover when not in use. Dust is your microscope’s worst enemy (next to fecal solution) so always keep your microscope covered when not in use. Place it in it’s Styrofoam box if storing for extended periods of time.
It’s black or dark when I look into the eyepiece?
1. Be sure the objective lens is clicked into place. If the nose piece isn’t rotated with the objective lens snapped into place, you will not be able to see anything.
2. Make sure the light is switched on.
3. Check that the iris diaphragm is allowing in light.
4. Insure the intensity dial is turned up to allow in light.
How do I carry my microscope? Carry your microscope with two hands. One hand on the bottom provides support while the other hand holds the neck to secure it. Never lift or carry with the nose piece, focusing knob or mechanical stage.
Caring for your slides Our Eggzamin™ McMaster counting slides were designed to be used again and again only requiring only a simple cleaning procedure.
1. Thoroughly rinse out the McMaster chambers with warm running water.
2. Let slide air dry.
If the chamber becomes dirty soak for only a few minutes in warm water containing dish soap. Do not soak for long periods as this will cause the chamber to become cloudy.
